{Gina K Inspiration Hop} Delicate Damask

Today we're featuring Beth's new set Delicate Damask.  Sooooo pretty and elegant!  Here's my card...

I hand cut a banner out of watercolor paper for my focal layer and stamped one of the smaller damask stamps in Versamark ink, then embossed it in white.  When it had a chance to set, I used my Distress Markers and scribbled some ink on an acrylic block.  Then I used a small wet paintbrush to pick up the color which I washed over the embossed image.  I love the soft color!

I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in Charcoal Brown and then matted my banner on some Innocent Pink cardstock.  The pretty yellow gingham is from the Sunshiney Day paper pack and the pink layer is embossed with the Wire Fence embossing folder.

My card today is with Theresa's gorgeous new set - Elegant Florals 2

I stamped my flowers in Versamark ink onto watercolor paper and then embossed them with white embossing powder.  I used my Distress Markers to watercolor them and then drew in a few black lines to create a frame.  I grabbed some buttons from my stash and some BubbleGum twine to use as embellishments.

My card today is with Melanie's fun new set - Triple Play Frame.  This set had so many great extras, that I decided to do a background with some of the flowers, foliage and butterflies.  The sentiment is from Let's Talk.

I used Fresh Asparagus, Kraft, Sweet Corn, Prickly Pear and Wild Lilac inks for the background and Dark Chocolate ink for the sentiment.  The gingham paper is from the Sunshiney Day paper pack and I tied it altogether with some gold cord.  Simple and easy!

You Make my Heart Bloom!

It's Friday Funday over in the Stamp TV Kit Addicts Group!  I hope you'll join us!  Membership is free and we have a lot of fun using the current Stamp TV Kits.  Today's card is a little different, though...  You'll have to stop in to see why!

{Stamp TV Kit} Wish Come True

I adore Stamp TV kits.

There.  I've said it.  I love the cute designer paper, the ribbons, the stamps, the fact that you get both colored cardstock and white or ivory, and even little brads, too.  And now those fantastic Vintage cuts... WOW.  

I like the kits because they don't overwhelm me.  I can stamp and stamp and stamp with what is in the box, or I can mix and match like I did here. The ribbon, designer paper, and ivory and kraft cardstock, and all but one of the stamps for this card came from the  STV kit - Journey of the Heart.  I added in a couple of rhinestones, a frame stamp from a Gina K grab bag that I won on Stamp TV and a piece of cardstock.  That's it!  A beautifully easy birthday card.

I'm entering my card in the ModSquad challenge to use red and brown, the Stamp TV challenge to use a knot on your card, and the Seize the Birthday challenge with a topping of rhinestones.

Thanks Snow Much

Greetings, friends!

I'm playing along with two challenges today.  The Mix It Up Monday Challenge on Stamp TV is to make a card that has something shiny on it, and the Mod Squad Challenge is to make a card with SNOW.  Now, I have I box in my stamping area with some leftover cardstock from the last Stamp TV kit I bought and I REALLY would like to have used all of the kit up before the next one comes out this week, so I decided to challenge myself to make a winter card with fall colors.... Hence a Purple and Prickley Pear color scheme!

I used the sweet Gina K Designs set Snow Much Fun and stamped the background in cream ink.  I embossed it with clear ep to make it shiny.  Then I colored my sweet snowman with copics and promarkers and added some more shine with some rhinestones.  A little shiny ribbon and twine and there you have it! : )

So Many Reasons

Stamp TV has a monochromatic card challenge this week, and this piece of Prickly Pear cardstock was calling my name, so I decided to make a quick CAS card.  The pretty paper is MME Bluebell from Stamp Simply, and the stitched circle die is from MFT.

Look at you Blossom

Here's a pretty card I made for the Hope You Can Cling To challenge on SplitCoast and the Chat Challenge at Stamp TV.  I used the Gina K mini set "Blossom".  Isn't it a fun color combo??  I like the extra texture of the embossed dots over the stamped background.  I'll have to try that more often!

Hello, hello!

I have a Gina K card to share today!  I've been enjoying playing along with the challenges over on Stamp TV and the other day I actually was the random winner.  YAY!!  I received an AMAZING grab bag of goodies from Gina K today.  Just look!!!  I got a pack of GKD patterned paper, red brads, a roll of assorted black and white ribbon, 5 images and 4 sentiments!  Of course, every grab bag will be different, but I think this one was AMAZING!!

Of course I really wanted to play with my new paper, so I whipped up a card for this week's "Touch of Gold" challenge with an older GKD set called "My Cuppa Joe", some of the pretty Berries & Vines paper, and a few brads for my touch of gold.

For my birthday I ordered my first ever Stamp TV kit from Gina K and I'm expecting it any day now.   I can't wait to see what it's like!!  I'll let you know...

Through a Window

Here's today's faux window card for Gina K's Countdown.  It's a fun technique that I don't remember doing before.  My embossing powder and brayer have been getting a workout lately!

Split Negative Technique

Today's card is for one of Gina K's Countdown Challenges over at Stamp TV.  It uses a technique called "split negative" which is honestly something that I wouldn't have tried if I hadn't been challenged to do it!  Embossing powder is not my friend, so I don't have that much of it around... hence the brown and gold colorway... :-)  Can't wait to see what tomorrow's challenge will be!

Autumn Trust

I made a quick card last night, just for fun. It seems that I don't have much time to stamp many cards that aren't design team work. I think I might have to change that! This card was made for one of the challenges on Stamp TV for those of us who weren't able to go to CHA. The challenge was to use an image or sentiment upside down or on its side. I chose to use the pumpkin from GKD Whimsical Autumn and the verse from Flowers for Daisy, and I followed the sketch from CardPositioning Systems. The pumpkin is colored with Copics and popped up but other than that, it's pretty straightforward!

Gina K Day

It seems like there hasn't been enough time in my weeks lately to play in any of the Gina K challenges, so I decided to "make time" and create a card for today's Inspiration challenge on Stamp TV. All you need to do is make a card and actually send it to someone! How's that for an easy challenge! I think the hardest part is figuring out who to send it to. :-)

I used an older Gina K Designs set called "Flowers for Daisy" and colored it with Copics, following the sketch of the card Gina made for today's Stamp TV episode. The dp is another piece from my scrap stash. I think it's K&Co. :-)

One Layer Daisy

Wow!  This is two one-layer cards in a short time period!  Can you believe it??  Actually I won this Gina K set called Flowers for Daisy with my last one layer card, so it seemed appropriate to make another! :-)

I stamped the daisy on my kraft cardstock, masked it, and then stamped the greenery to make leaves.  I colored the image with prismacolors & oms, but it got lost on the card, so I sponged in some white chalk ink to highlight it.  Halfway through stitching around the card, my bobbin ran out, and since I knew that I'd never be able to match the holes if I tried again, I just left it and decided to give it a shabby look.  I sponged the background with cocoa ink and a jumbo sponge dauber and then stamped the card very lightly with SU's old Canvas background stamp.  I love that stamp!  I'm so sorry they discontinued it.

As a final touch I added a PaperTrey Vintage button with some twine, attached it with a glue dot and called it good.

Learn Something New...

Today's card tip...  Copics don't blend the greatest on Creamy Caramel cardstock.  Not horrible, mind you, just not great.  I made this card for Stamp TV's embossing with nestibilities challenge.  Since I used a different color cardstock than white, I sponged the background and inside the die to help the embossing stand out a little more.  Hey - this can go in the Copic Creations challenge for this week, too! :-)  I love it when that happens!!

Vera Birthday Inspiration

If there is something I love almost as much as stamping, it is my Vera Bradley bags.  I saw my first one about 2 1/2 years ago and just fell in love.  In fact I drove from Wisconsin to Oklahoma over Spring Break two years ago with the express intent of buying one.  (OK, so they were at a *huge* cross stitch store there... and I bought a little more than a VB bag!!)

Anyway - the Color Challenge at Stamp TV is to make a card inspired by this VB bag.  How could I resist???  I decided to go very simple.  I took a piece of tan dp from my K&Co Bailey pack and stamped 3 flowers from Framed Fun and colored them with Copics.  I layered that on brown dp and stitched them to a layer of blue dp on light brown Bazzill cardstock.  After attaching it to a cream card base, I stamped and cut out my saying (from How Sweet it Is) with the Nesties Tags.  I sponged it with Soft Sky and Memento Desert Sand before removing it from the die, and I attached it with 2 of my last sparkly brown brads.  Must.find.these.  (I got them in a Secret Sister package and have loved them!!)

Polished Stone Prettiness

I don't know about you, but there are certain techniques... most, in fact!... that I shy away from.  My strength seems to lie in coloring, which is hysterical, cuz it terrifies me.  I have a horrible time coloring things that can be any color... Magnolia Tildas, for example.  I like things that "should" be a certain color... roses=red, dogs=brown, etc.  But I digress!

Polished stone is not one of my favorite techniques.  In all honesty mine has usually turned out very muddy.  BUT... it was the challenge over at Stamp TV, so I decided to give it a try. :-)  Here's my version...

I took my almost dry Encore Metallic Gold pad and lightly applied it directly to my glossy cardstock.  Then I put a little alcohol on a cotton ball and 2 drops of mustard reinker and applied it.  Then again with Cocoa.  Then again with Orange.

I stamped and embossed the pumpkin from GKD Whimsical Autumn on my background and cut it out with my circle Nesties.  Then I cut a circle out of a rust cs - the next size up - and layered them over the empty circle that I had cut out.  The "friend" is from GKD My Cuppa Joe.

I think the key for me was to use colors that I love and to let each layer dry before applying the next.  Maybe it had something to do with how wet the cotton ball was???
