It's PaperTrey Blog Hop night! Yay!! Tonight the theme is "Summertime". One of the highest spots of our summer is the week of the 4th of July. Our little town goes all out... parade, carnival, fireworks, fireworks and more fireworks. People come from miles around for the parade. People line the streets for blocks and blocks. Children come prepared with brown bags to carry all their candy home... Ok. So maybe I do too! Flags are everywhere... even in the flower boxes. And everyone still stands when the Veterans present the Colors. I'm getting a lump in my throat just thinking about it!! Because of that, it's no wonder that my card uses the new Vintage Picnic set, complete with a 4th of July theme, and inspired by my flower box.
I stamped my basket on a piece of K&Co red dp, added some shadows with my W5 and R59 Copics, and then filled in the little dots with my white gel pen. The "filler" for the basket was stamped on Ivory cs and colored with Copics (R22, R29, R59, BG72, BG09, BG10, E37, E51, Y21, Y17, E31). When I got everything colored, I decided to make some "fireworks". I used the snowflake from the set, inked it in a color, then in VersaMark and then embossed it with Iridescent Ice ep. It's so pretty and sparkly in person! After cutting it out with Nestibilities and sponging it while it was still in the die, I matted it on a piece of red dp, then popped it up on my background which was stamped tone on tone with the flag and stars stamp. A little bit of gold cord and TaDa - a clean and simple 4th of July card. (If you click on the picture below you can see the "sparklies" better!)
Thanks for visiting! Have fun on the hop!
