{Shining the Light} - A Mother's Comfort

Another Scripture card for a Sunday!  This one is for the Our Daily Bread Shining the Light challenge to use 6 of something.  I used six pieces of designer paper in my background. : )

The stamps are from the ODBD set "Mother's Day".  Isn't that font pretty?  I inked up the flower with a few different ink pads and stamped it off once before stamping it on my card.  I wanted the main focus to be on the verse.  I am SO thankful for God's comfort and so glad that I can rest in Him daily, not just when things are tough!!

Graceful Lily of the Valley

I have a CAS card to share with you today using two Our Daily Bread Designs sets from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  I stamped the Lily from Easter Greetings in Versafine Onyx Ink on Watercolor Paper and watercolored it with Distress Markers.  I added some stitching detail before attaching the image panel to the mat and card base, then added a banner stamped with a sentiment from Grow in Grace dressed up with a polka dot ribbon.

Design tip...I used a little purple in the sky behind the flower to pull in purple cardstock.  Which makes it fit this week's Our Daily Bread Challenge just right! : )

My Soul Will Rejoice

Today's card was inspired by a couple of challenges... the Our Daily Bread Shining the Light challenge to make a shaped card, and this week's Deconstructed sketch for a circular card.  I also wanted to play along with the Paper Smooches LoveFest challenge on SplitCoast, so my card needed to be either cute and fun or classy and elegant.  I chose classy and elegant!

I chose this beautiful verse from the set Easter Blessings as my focal point.  What a blessing to be able to share God's Word with others on our cards!

I used a Standard Circle die to cut out my cardbase, and then added a scalloped mat and a layer of designer paper from the MME Bluebell 6x6 pad.  The colors in this pad are so warm and inviting!  I stamped my sentiment and hand cut a banner, then diecut the different parts of my flower with the Blooms Three dies.  I sponged the edges of my patterned paper with ink to give a little more definition, and then put my card together, adding a little gold string under the flower to add a little sparkle.  A few rhinestones on the flag and my card was complete!

Pretty Poppy

I got a box in the mail yesterday from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store with a VERY special Valentine's gift from DH... Distress Markers!!  Of course I had to play with them right away!!!  Our Daily Bread Designs had a challenge to CASE a designer that you admired, so I looked for a card I could CASE that I could use my markers to color... you see how my mind works?? : )  A designer's work that I just love is Korin Sutherland, and I found the perfect card to CASE!!  Here it is...

I pulled out two ODBD sets from Stamp Simply - Mother's Day and Grow in Grace, and got to work.  First I cut out my panel from Ranger Watercolor Paper, then I stamped the Poppy with Versafine Onyx Ink and let it dry.  I watercolored it using the Distress Markers and a small paintbrush, then doodled the edges and embellished it lightly.

I'm sure you'll be seeing a LOT of the distress markers around here over the next few months.  I love the assortment of on trend colors and how easy it is to color larger images without using up an entire Copic marker!!

More Grace

The Shining Light challenge for this week was a simple sketch that worked perfectly with this exquisite sentiment from the Our Daily Bread "Grace"set.  Isn't God's grace a mind-boggling thing?  To exchange my sin for Christ's righteousness.  Amazing.

SIMPLE TIP:

I stamped the flower lightly in pink ink while it was still in the Nestibilities die.  Before removing it, I sponged a little Creamy Caramel ink (SU) around the edges. This left me with a nice crisp white edge and it looks like I added a white mat. : )

Grace

Today's card isn't flat enough to mail without extra postage, so I'll put it in my "special cards for special people" pile and mail it with a package.  I used a new stamp set today -- one called "Grace" by Our Daily Bread Designs, and I made the card for this week's Shining the Light inspiration challenge.  I decided to use the colors from pictures 1 and 2.   I colored my image with copics and then added a little prismacolor pencil to the top.

SIMPLE TIP:

To tone down the white paper I had stamped my image on, I colored it with YR000 and then went around the edges with E41.  This helped it to blend with the ivory base layer and helped the flowers to "pop" off the page a little. : )
