Final Friday Challenge

Hello friends! It's time for the Paper Garden Final Friday Challenge!! This month we're having a color challenge inspired by this picture...

Our challenge to you is to create a project that includes includes these three colors. You can add other colors if you wish - but include at lease a smidgen of each of these 3. Here's my card.

I used the, oh, so precious, Penny Black mice from the "It's Your Day" set and the new words that I just got from the Stampendous "Flexible Friendship Wishes" set. I love this set of words!! I think it's sold out in the store, but I know Cathy will get more soon. :-) I tried to keep my card simple enough that I could even send it to a guy... maybe a guy 6 years old and under... but a guy nonetheless!! {{grin}} So... I left it fairly plain and limited my embellishments to brads and a little lace doily punch... I couldn't help myself!! My mice are colored with copics and cut out with a Labels 8 die, and the cardstock is by Prism. Have a very mice day!! :-)

You have till midnight (EST) of Friday May 7 to add a comment to the challenge post on the Paper Garden blog with a link to your project. We will draw one random winner for the prize.

The rules are:

It must be a newly created project for this challenge - but feel free to combine this challenge with any other ones out there.

We'd love to see all the art you care to share, but each person will only be entered in the drawing once.

The winner will be drawn randomly and announced the following Saturday.

In honor of Mother's Day, the prize is this lovely Rachelle Anne Miller Bundle of Joy stamp.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Flowers for Mom

It's digi day! Halloo, Hallay! (That sounds like something from that Jabberwocky poem we read in school...) Anyway... our theme today is Mother's day, so I used the SNSS digi Forget Me Not and a Verve sentiment to put together my card. The paper is, of course, more of the Debbie Mumm mat pack. I'm so proud of myself that I've been using it!! I cleaned up my stamp room (aka bedroom!) yesterday and found a sheet of chipboard tags. I am chipboard impaired, but the Ways to Use It challenge on SCS was to use chipboard on your card, so I took the plunge. I just sponged the edges lightly before I stamped on the sentiment, and I like the look! :-)

Hope you'll join us over at SNR for the challenge!

Blessings!

Welcome!

About 9 years ago, when I was a demo for Stampin' Up!, I joined a summer Yahoo Group called VC Rocks... as in - "Virtual Convention". This summer is the 10th anniversary of the group, and even though I don't use as many SU stamps and supplies as I once did, I couldn't miss getting together with all the gals this summer. The cards above are welcome RAKS for some of the new gals that will be joining us this year. You don't have to be a demo, but you do have to remember that it is basically an SU only group. :-) If you're interested in joining you can check out the group here. Oh, I should warn you. This is a HIGH volume email group... like 200-300 emails a day. Quite chatty... :-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Cross Stitch Work in Progress & Charts for Free!

Hello friends! I have a *fun* work in progress to share today! I was blessed with an "inter-stitcher loan" of the Secret Flower Bed chart, so I've put everything on hold so I could work on it. I just *love* the colors and the the look of it!! (And, yes, the bunny does have eyes... the pink is his nose. My dds' were convinced he was rabid! {smiles}) It's been one of those weeks that I've spent more time in the car driving and waiting than I have at home, so I've gotten a lot done on my stitching. :-) I hope to have it finished by the end of the week... which is quick for me!

I have a few charts that my dd would like to pass on to a good home. If you are interested in one or both we'd be happy to send them to you! (First come, first serve!)

The sleeping wolf chart in this pack seems to be missing one page... It was like that when we bought it. :-( You might be able to get the missing page from the publisher, though.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tricia

Welcome to the Paper Garden Projects Friendly Garden Walk

Take a stroll through the blogs of all the Paper Gardeners and enjoy some friendly inspiration. We're introducing some new gardening buddies so be sure to say "hi" to our new design team members.

While you visit, subscribe to each Gardener's blog and take note of each designer's name and their Friendly Word in their blog post. Once you finish your garden tour, send an E-mail to custserv@papergardenprojects.com with the list of designers and their Friendly Word.

Everyone who sends the correct list of designers and words will be entered in a random drawing to win a prize. You need to send an e-mail to the address above; please don't leave your list as a comment. You have until midnight (EST) on Tuesday, April 27 to send your list.

And the prize? How about a couple new little buddies (the OA Buddies cling set from The Greeting Farm)?

gfoabuddies_LRG

I made my card for today with the adorable Penny Black set, "It's Your Day" and the Flourishes set, "Taglines" and followed the Cute Card Thursday sketch challenge for the layout. I started with some prism cardstock for my card base and pink layer, then I used punches and Nestibility dies to cut a number of shapes from some Kaisercraft La-Di-Da designer paper. My little kitty is colored with copics, and I added the white dots to the pink paper with a white gel pen. Pretty straightforward!! :-)

I Hope you enjoy today's garden tour! My word is amigo. And here is the garden tour guide list!!

Blessings!

Our Clearly Inspired challenge this week is to be "All Tied Up", and use ribbon on your card. How fun! I love ribbon! I used some of the new Clearly Coordinating Tickled Pink grosgrain on the cardfront, and a little snippet of SU Apricot grosgrain to tie up my button. The sets that I used were all by Clear Dollar Stamps - "Pretty Little Scriptures" and April's Stamp of the Month set, "Topped with Class". My papers were all from some Debbie Mumm matpacks and notecards that I got on *huge* clearance at JoAnns. I promised myself that if I bought them I would use them, so I hope you don't get tired of them before they run out!! :-)

For more info on the challenge, or to link up your card, visit Lori's blog here!

Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments! Blessings!!

More Cocoa!

Are you tired of Cocoa the Mouse yet?? I just love to color him & he makes me smile. :-) I made this card for this week's Sweet Stop sketch challenge with the spin of buttons and bows. It's colored with copics and the papers are from a couple of different Debbie Mumm mat stacks from Joann's. Thanks so much for stopping by and even dropping a comment here and there. I appreciate you all!!

National Library Week

My daughter informed me on Monday afternoon that this is National Library Week. SO... in honor of the Library, I made this card with Milton Reading under a flower. OK, so actually I made it because he was cute and I wanted to color him, but the other sounded better! LOL!! :-) I mentioned on the Sweet 'n Sassy digi blog last week that I really like to have cards that are easy to mail, and it seemed to strike a chord with some others. So today I thought I'd give you some ideas of ways to add some "punch" to your cards, without much weight or thickness...

1. Use lighter-weight cardstock or patterned paper if you're going to do lots of layering. I used cardstock from the new Clearly Coordinating Collection at Clear Dollar Stamps, as well as a lightweight kraft file folder.
2. Add interest by embossing (heat embossing or dry!), sponging, and glitter, rather than embellishing.
3. If you do embellish, think "flat & light". Some suggestions are lightweight ribbon tied in a knot, rather than bulky ribbon tied in a bow; mini or micro brads rather than buttons or flowers; and low profile half-pearls rather than dewdrops.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to drop by the Sweet 'n Sassy store to see what's new!!

Cocoa's Mother's Day

If you read yesterday's post, you'll recognize this card as the *first* card I made for yesterday's Sweet 'n Sassy digi day challenge... with the wrong colors!!! However, I *do* like how the card turned out! I used a scrap of paper that I got in a craft kit last spring and the Flowers from Cocoa digi, as well as an older SU stamp for the sentiment. I colored Cocoa with copics and added a little bit of a "glow" with some yellow pastels. I love the little half pearls I just got from Paper Garden Projects the other day. Their color is "Chino" and they're an inexpensive way to add a little "bling" to a project without overdoing it. And they are *such* a pretty color!!

Thanks for stopping by! There is still time to play in the challenge for a free digi!

Blessings!

Hoppy Day!

I just love digi day! Only today I made a big mistake! I went on Korin's blog this morning and saw her beautiful card before the challenge was up. She said... Here's my card, can you guess what the challenge is??? So I looked at her card and thought, "Hmmmm.... it must be flowers - or maybe Mother's Day". I wanted to be sure that I covered *all* my bases, so I sat down and made a card with both flowers and a Mother's Day greeting. I got it all finished, took its picture and went to the challenge thread, only to find out that it was A COLOR CHALLENGE!!!!!!! Can you believe it????!!! {{{giggles}}} Sooo.... I'll save that card for tomorrow and show you the *new* card that I made for the color challenge. I used Fenton Frog and his sentiment and drew in a little lily pad. The flowers are punched out with my Boho Blossoms punch from SU and the paper is all from Paper Garden Projects.

Thanks for stopping by! If you hurry you can still make a card to get today's freebie digi image!!

Gina K Day

It seems like there hasn't been enough time in my weeks lately to play in any of the Gina K challenges, so I decided to "make time" and create a card for today's Inspiration challenge on Stamp TV. All you need to do is make a card and actually send it to someone! How's that for an easy challenge! I think the hardest part is figuring out who to send it to. :-)

I used an older Gina K Designs set called "Flowers for Daisy" and colored it with Copics, following the sketch of the card Gina made for today's Stamp TV episode. The dp is another piece from my scrap stash. I think it's K&Co. :-)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cross Stitch Update!

Hi all! I'm still here. Last weekend was a whirlwind because we had a workshop at a ladies' retreat for GraceWorks. I'm catching up slowly but surely!

On the stitching front...

I signed up for two exchanges - a Christmas Ornament swap and BeckySC's Scissor Keeper swap. I have the ornament stitched and ready to finish and I'm almost done stitching the Scissor Keeper as well. This is new territory for me. I hope my partners like what I'm making!!

My other wip's are a bookmark for a gift, the "Patience" thread pack by Little House Needleworks, and my stocking. I finished all of the top border for the stocking and my next goal is to finish the little angel dolls sitting on top of the bookshelf.

One of my new blogging friends is going to give me an inter-stitcher loan of the Trilogy chart, Secret Flower Bed from my wish list. I'm so excited!! I think everything except my stocking will go on hold while I stitch it, so I can get it back to her quickly. :-) I can't wait!!

That's it for me this week! Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings!

Color Challenge Today!

Today's Clearly Inspired color challenge definitely tested my mojo!! The colors to use are Cherry Go Round, Lime Juice and Bee Pollen from Clear Dollar's new Clearly Coordinating Collection, and, as I have a *really* hard time with bright colors, it took two cards before I did one I wasn't embarrassed to show you!! :-)

I used the With Thanksgiving set and the Plumes and Blooms set from Clear Dollar Stamps, and I *really* like how the focal piece turned out. I would definitely try that again. I stamped the plume while the image was still in the nestibilities die, so it left the edges white. So pretty!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a lovely weekend, and I hope you'll join us for the challenge!! :-)

Singing in the Rain!

I doctored up this cute little birdbath from Sweet 'n Sassy to fit the Digi Day challenge over on SNR. The theme was "rain" and since I didn't really have any digis that fit, I just drew in a few raindrops on my own. (Feel free to be amazed at my drawing ability... LOL!!!!) The sentiment is from the SNSS set "Melody of Love". I'm attempting to use up some of my scraps of dp that I have stashed in a folder, so I pieced together a few strips, added some ribbon, and then cut down a kraft file folder for the card base since I am out of kraft cardstock. This was truly a "makeshift" card, LOL!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thinking out of the Box

I just love the Penny Black It's Your Day set that I got from Paper Garden Projects, but I admit that as cute as the cats are, my favorite are the mice. So I decided to "think outside of the box", and rather than making a birthday card for today, I used some of my La-di-da paper and one of the sweet little meecy mice to make an encouragement card instead.

You might notice that I used prismacolors and oms today instead of my copics. I really like the soft look when I'm coloring on designer paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a fantastic day!

Another Quick Card

Here's another card for my GraceWorks gals. Basic Grey Wisteria DP and the Violet Cupcake from Lockhart stamps again. :-)

Hey what do you all think about SU changing their colors and retiring so many of the classics? I'm *so* glad I'm not a demo, so I don't have to buy all the new ones all at once. WOW! That would be a lot of money!!

Have a lovely day!

Something Sweet

I often need Scripture cards to share with my GraceWorks ladies, and this little Violet Cupcake stamp by Ellen Lockhart is my "go to" stamp of choice! The paper is Basic Grey Wisteria and the sentiment is an older set from The Angel Company that I just love.

I tried something new with my lighting for the picture... what do you think??

Thanks so much for visiting me yesterday and all the sweet comments you left for the Sweet n Sassy blog hop. I'll be drawing a name shortly and I'll post the winner of the Berry Sweet Cocoa later today! :-)

It's called Doodle Pantry and just for participating in this month's challenge you can get an image of your choice for free!! How fun! I love this little birdhouse set that I got to use for today's card. Do you see the little birdie hanging upside down? And the one with its feet hanging out the hole below him?? I love it!! :-)

The Old Rugged Cross

I am so blessed! I have been asked to join the Sweet 'n Sassy digi team as a guest designer for the month of April! How fun! I'll be posting each Saturday in April on the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Blog. :-) As tomorrow is Easter, I couldn't think of a more appropriate stamp to work with for my first week's card, than "Old Rugged Cross". Do you remember the song... "Oh the old rugged cross, so despised by the world, holds a wondrous attraction for me... For twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, to pardon and sanctify me." (vs 2, 3) I am so thankful for His death and resurrection, and for the eternal life He offers to those who trust in Him!

If you'd like more detailed info on how I made the card, feel free to hop over to the Sweet 'n Sassy blog! And come join us each Thursday at Scrapbook News & Review for our weekly challenge. It's small and friendly, and you get a free digi just for playing along!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I pray you'll have a glorious day tomorrow worshipping our risen Saviour!! See you next Saturday!

Cross Stitch Finish!

I finally decided how to finish my Tiny House. :-) I made a little bag that is just big enough for some fabric, a small chart, some floss, and a little pair of scissors. I love how it turned out! It's lined inside, so there aren't any frayed edges showing and it's so sweet and petite! I signed up for a Pay It Forward on Cath's blog the other day, but before I offer it here I would like to have all my projects ready to go, so I'm sure I'll follow through. This little bag just *might* be one of them if I can part with it! It's the perfect size to add some goodies to! Feel free to follow my blog if you don't want to miss anything! Just sayin'... ;-)

Thanks for stopping by. Not too much more stitching going on this week. A little here and there and I started a new LHN Thread Pack. :-) I'll do show and tell again next week.

Happy Easter!

Let's Party!

I have a fun card to share today using my new Penny Black "It's Your Day" set from Paper Garden Projects. I followed the Taylored Expressions sketch, because it worked perfectly with the three little party goers on the bottom of the card. I colored all of my critters with copics and used some Kaisercraft paper, stitching, dew drops and ribbon. What fun! You'll see me work more with this set as the month goes on. No Fooling! :-)

Blessings!
